H is tossing around the idea of switching from BCBS to Tricare. I have to admit, I don't know a thing about it, so give me your pros and cons, anything I should research myself, and anything else that could be important.

Re: Tricare
For a short period of time I only had BCBS and Tricare is hands down a lot better.
Will you be using Tricare Reserve Select?
Or Prime or Standard?
No idea, he is ARNG. Is only a specific one available to him, or is the difference just in coverage/price?
Okay, it will be Tricare Reserve Select.
You can get insurance just for him or for the both of you.
On one of the websites I linked for you you'll see that if he's activated for a deployment or for schooling for so long that you are eligible for Active Duty Tricare which is called Prime and Standard and doesn't require a monthly premium.
For 2011 the prices are $53.16 for individual or $197.76 for family.
For 2012 the prices are $54.25 and $192.89 for family.
If you fill your prescriptions through their Express Scripts mail order pharmacy all of your generic medications are free. The name brand ones are for a 3 month supply for a 1 month copay.
You have a personal deductible of $50 or a family deductible of $150. It starts over each year on October 1st.
You pay 85/15 for in-network.
You pay 80/20 for out-of-network.
