Thank you all so much for the congratulations. We are so in love with our new little guy and he is such a great baby. We are getting into a routine slowly and I am recovering well and nursing is going great!
For anyone who is interested I will give the short version of his birth.
I started having some contractions 7 minutes apart on Saturday around 3pm. I labored at home until about 2:30 Sunday morning and we headed off on our hour trip to the hospital. My contractions were about 3 minutes apart by then. That was the longest car ride ever. We got to the hospital and waited to be checked into L&D which was full at the time. My water broke at the hospital around 6am. By 7am I was dilated to a 4 and got my epidural. I progressed fairly well throughout the day and started pushing around 3:30pm. I pushed for almost 3 hours and then was told I needed a c-section since his head was not coming down.
At 6:50pm Gabriel was born. He weighed 9lbs. 15 oz, 23 inches long and his head was 14" which all explains why I pushed for so long and nothing happened.
I didn't get to see him for 3 hours, I was having some blood pressure/blood loss issues. The road to recovery has been a long one. My hemoglobin levels were dangerously low most of my stay in the hospital. DH has been absolutely amazing and is the best daddy! We are a little sleep deprived but doing great and slowly making progress on the sleeping part.
Re: Hi Ladies!
Glad to hear you're home and settling in well!
That is one big baby with one big head!
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
