Baby Proofing Question(s)
I'm having trouble figuring out what is enough vs too much (I don't want Eli growing up in a rubber house!) What did you find to be important things to child proof? (ie the stove, windows, toilets) What did you find your never needed? TIA!

Re: Baby Proofing Question(s)
We have outlet covers and those have definitely come in handy because he always is trying to play with outlets. We have some gates to block areas off when needed and also a playyard to keep him contained when needed. We have one of those things that goes on the door knob for when he gets older because the utility room is off his bedroom. Other then that not much really. If needed we will, but I haven't needed it.
And fwiw, my SIL is ridiculous about if something is in a book, magazine or if someone told her then she needs to do it. She never had cabinet, door or toilet stoppers. She had oulet plugs, one of those knob things for the cellar door and I remember seeing 1 gate once. She now has a 3 year old and a 8 month old and its the same way.
We have outlet covers, the cabinet under the sink is locked (That's where the cleaners are), the cabinet that holds all the storage containers is locked (DH was tired of containers everywhere), and we have a tall white cabinet that holds everything like: appliance manuals, hammers, screwdrivers, nails, dog treats, batteries, and car air freshners. Levi always opened that cabinet, and got out my deck of Phase 10 cards and had them EVERYWHERE!
Those were the main cabinets DS messed with. The bathroom cabinets are not locked, we have a gate upstairs that I use if I need to shower and he's awake, so I can contain him to the bedrooms/bathroom.
All we have done is outlet covers and some cabinet locks. (We have the cabinets that have the cleaning products, alcohol, food and heavy backing items locked up. The tupperware is a freefor all for Brynn she LOVES it) We also have a gate that we move between the living room and the staircase. We put it between the doorway and my chair in the living room while I'm working from home and can't chase her around as much and then at the bottom of the stairs the rest of the time since she loves stairs. We haven't bothered with anything in the doors stove or fridge yet since she is a mini kid. haha. Once she is a bit taller I'm sure we will see how she is and then do those if need be.
We also still have to baby proof our woodburning stove. I think we are just going to get a big gate to put a few feet out from it since i have no other ideas. If anyone has an idea let me know.
we have outlet covers and on the corners of our table in the living room we put the foam padding so she wouldn't get a big gash.
We anchored all the bookshelves/her chest of drawers
We put locks on the cabinets in the bathrooms and under the sink.
Other than that we put harmful things out of reach and we didn't do much else, so as of now we haven't babyproofed the stove, windows or toilets.
We tell her if something will give her an owie (and started early) and she seems to do fine
