Euro Apple Pies?
Alright ladies, I've got the base figured out but I need some filling advice.
Good, easily found apple varieties? Brown sugar substitutions? I tried the cane sugar I found here as "brown sugar" but it didn't turn out all that great. There's no molases here to make brown sugar, either.
DH has to bring in dessert on Thursday for his coworkers (they take turns every Thursday, just like in my school) and I'd like to make something stereotypical for them. Any other ideas? I don't think I could do whoopie pies, but....

Did you put the sugar in by weight or volume? When substituting a dry sugar for the US's wetter brown sugar you need to do your replacement by weight (1 cup light brown sugar = 218 grams).
Alternatively you could make your own brown sugar with honey, maple syrup or treacle. The flavor will be a little different but it should still taste okay.
I thought I had typed a response but it is not showing.
You can find real brown sugar in Spain but you have to buy it at El Corte Ingles or at Hipercor. It is located by the health food products. I dont remember the name of the brand. It is something, Line. It comes in a clear bag.
