Morning gals.
I'm back from my whirlwind trip in LA. Tried to come on and nest a little, but couldn't post while away.
Had an ok time at the conference (would have rather been here working, living my normal lame-o life), but then my girlfriend came to visit for the weekend and we had a hell of a time! As in, I did not go to bed at all the night before my (6 am) flight. Stayed right up straight through. Had a total ball. Despite my lack of sleep, I needed that.
Now though I have to play work catch up, sleep catch up, and house frau catch up. Today I will work my keester off, then go get groceries, then cook and unpack, do laundry, AND squeeze in a run (I only went on one while away. Sumbeech).
I'm already pooped (though the glorious 9 hours of sleep last night were truly glorious).
happy (??) monday!
Re: Sweet Sassy Molassy it's Monday already
Morning morning! Weekend was ok. Friday DH convinced me to go to MILs house for dinner and Fringe. He practically had to beg, I had no interest in going. We get up there and she had made pizza (hello, who's working on a lifestyle change?!?!?) and the Fringe episode was a re-run. SO pissed. DH fell asleep and I rudely woke him up and demanded we go home. Could've had a healthy dinner at home and watched something else on the boob tube. Boo hiss.
Saturday was gym, (no tanning) and laundry, with errands. Went to a halloween party and realized I'm way too old for bullshiit anymore. We left before midnight. I'm embracing the old (as my brother says) and I don't care one bit!
Sunday I met w/ a friend I "broke up" with a few months before the wedding. We haven't seen each other in 2 years. So crazy. She got married in August and it's weird that we missed so much in each others' lives. I realized I was rude and hurtful to her (because she had hurt ME pretty badly), but it's all water under the bridge. She is still the same in many ways though, so I still have to take everything she says with a grain of salt. We'll see what happens. My broncos won it OT and that was great! Did some shopping, more laundry and all of a sudden it's Monday morning. Sad.
My weekend was effing looooooooong.
On Sat morning, we made the trip down to NJ to see H's fam and tell them about the baby. They were happy and supportive, but very subdued, typical H's parents. (For the record, I am 100% fine with this. It is my preferred reaction). BIL (who just got married) was thrilled, likely cause niece will have a cousin near her own age and because he can talk to H about "dad stuff."
Sunday, we went to my parents' house. There was shrieking and crying and all sorts of crazy nonsense. My family was over the moon with happiness. Weird thing that happened: my uncle has been going to some sort of mystical/divinity school and he had class yesterday, so he came late (after we told everyone), but he didn't know. He made a beeline for me and kissed my stomach and was like "congratulations". I was strangely unsurprised (I actually had remarked that he probably knew), but my g'ma could NOT believe it.
On the plus side, this was a very profitable trip for us. My side of the fam is arguing over who gets to buy us what and MIL has offered to watch the baby over the summer (she's a teacher). And MIL gave H all of the savings bonds she'd been keeping in her safety deposit box. We put them all into this online calculator and holy CRAP that's a lot of money!
And, as usual, I am exhausted. I've only beena t work for half an hour and I'm ready to go home. Oh and the head nurse at my OB/CNM's office called on Friday and asked me to call her back on Monday. I'm expected to hear I need further testing immediately for the GD. Oh wellz.

Brew- I was so mad your Bronco won. I have nothing againest the Broncos themself, I have a whole lotta haterd for Tim Tewbow. My friend was even more mad because your kicker went to her college and sucked a a kicker there so she was pretty pissed he made it. She is also a Miami fan
I wish I didnt have work even though I had a 4 day weekend. Friday I ran a bunch of errands, well I went to the DMV twice because can't put all the info on the website, Greg and I went to lunch and then i went to the mall trying to find something to wear but failed. However, I did somehow hurt my ankle which still hurts today.
Saturday, we took the 4 hour drive with our friend and his son to Tallahassee to the Florida State Game. It was a very long day but super fun!
Sunday, work throw me a shower. So we go tons of clothes. We also got a good amount of money in gift cards to Babies R Us. maybe I can convinve Greg to go tonight. We have been waiting to buy anyting till after the shower, I have this fear we I will go into labor and not have a carseat and I don't trust Greg to get a cute one. lol
Saturday we watched bad movies with friends - these weren't even so bad they were good. Just bad. We ended up fast-forwarding thru a lot of the movies. But we had fun.
Sunday we slept in. MIL called right after we woke up and asked if we were coming over for lunch. I told DH on Sat he was on his own. I'm not going there every other week anymore. My weekend time is limited and I'm tired of losing 3-4 hours every other weekend for a bland lunch with his parents. I will go once a month and he can go by himself. (I will probably not stick to this long, but maybe I will feel better about skipping once every other month?) I made lasagna rolls and banana bread, so I feel better.
My boss is supposedly out today. And I don't really have a project to work on. So I'm going to save the little work I do have, for tomorrow when she's here.
I am in a fabulous mood for a Monday. Someone must've slipped me a mickey or something.
Anyhoo new blog is already up and it details some of my weekend plus and minuses: http://weinerwhistle.blogspot.com/2011/10/weekend-that-was.html
And gives a recipe for the kick ass pumpkin bars I made. Love.
Lots to do tonight to make up for the weekend shat I didn't get done.
Shauni - completely awesome to spend an entire (needed) night out of craziness!! Double awesome it was right before a looooong flight home!
Brew - Congrats on the broncos OT victory!
QofA - So excited for your loads of don't-have-to-buy-it baby stuff! And savings bonds score!!
Morning!!!
Weekend was pretty good, J worked most of the day Saturday so I just read for class today and spent some time on my new crafty project - knitting! I am still getting the hang of it and can't really start, end, or attach my projects, but I'll get there!! Saturday night was a super nice dinner out at an uber fancy place with FIL and J (FIL's birthday gift to me)
Sunday - J golfed, we had brunch ran some errands, watched football and I tackled the closet. I have entirely to much crap, and yet, I have 3 new shipments of clothing arriving at my door this week. I need help.
And in other super exciting news.... J was asked to work a moonlighting shift at a local hospital on Thanksgiving - it's a 24 hour shift and while it blows he needs to work, it means we DO NOT have to go to MIL's for her freakin obligatory t-giving dinner. YIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!

Weekend was good but sad it's over. Saturday I went to keep my friend company at her barrel race and met a girl who found an abandoned kitten she was trying to rehome. I told J about it and he was up for it; called the girl and left her a message. We will see if we get a new kitten or not. Also went with MIL to this nursery that not only has plants but they have a huge holiday display of pumpkin/Halloween stuff and Christmas trees.
Yesterday - not much, got some fresh apples from the farm stand, went to Costco and then vegged out at home. I fell asleep at 830p last night and after 8 hours of sleep I'm still tired.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Might be the best holiday news I've heard. Please share your good fortune. Please.
QoA - Crossing my fingers for you guys on the CF test.
My Saturday plans got blown to bits when my gf came down with some evil cold her MIL gave her. Boo hiss. We salvaged the day by running errands and visiting my parents. Sunday was a lovely afternoon with friends and then visiting my grandparents, who hadn't seen Baby Q since June. I earned some major brownie points and didn't have to hear the name of my 'chosen' cousin Michelle one single time. It was bliss. Downside was we made the trip down 'home' twice in one weekend but upside is we don't have to go back for at least a month.
Now, since we did all kinds of other crap all weekend, I still have at least 2 loads of laundry waiting to be started (plus three that are washed & dried but need to be folded & put away). So much for easing into the week ahead.
This is EXACTLY how I felt Friday night. We see MIL almost every day, why waste a weekend night?
QofA: good luck w/ the CF test, keep us posted. Score on all the goods though
Xtine: Personally I'm a Tebow lover/believer, but I can see why people hate him too
Shauni: are WE going to stay up all night when we hang out?
Angie: score for lack of IL holiday time! Jealous.
Angie - holler no inlaw Thanksgiving ruining. We are going to my sister-in-law's, but not my mother-in-law's. I'll let them duke it out.
Susie - Way to get visiting out of the way!
Xtine - hurrah! Shower! I still need to get MFD's cousin's gift to her, the shower was a month ago. i suck. This week. The baby is due in November.
Misty - I would be pissed at the Friday experience. Balls.
QoA - fingers and everything else crossed for no CF. I'm glad you let the cat out of the bag this weekend!
You should be a candidate for sainthood. I'd vote for you.
Yay, it's Monday, of my last week of work before maternity leave! I've never been so happy for a Monday in my life.
We got tons of baby stuff done this weekend, and the nursery is, like, done. Crazy. I convinced H to let us keep the adorable bouncer that he got at his work shower, and take the used one my friend passed on to us to my parents' house. It is so freaking adorable, I can't resist it. I was like, Predator has so much that is passed down, doesn't he deserve one nice new thing? So that became our big joke this weekend, about how the baby doensn't have anything nice and new, which is ridic.
Here it is:
We went to BRU on Saturday and got the rest of the stuff we need, and I nearly had a heart attack when she said our total was $555. But then we had $300 in gift cards, and I realized the registry discount didn't come off our biggest ticket items (video monitor, Ergo carrier and insert), so that was another $50 off. Sheesh. This baby stuff is expensive! But we really are so ready now. We only need a double trash can, with one half for disposables/other trash, and the other half for cloth diapers, and I found it at BBB. Just waiting to see if we get a 20% off coupon in the mail in the next few weeks.
QoA - fingers crossed for you on the CF test. I went through the same thing; we found out after our NT scan at ~13 weeks. It was the longest 2 weeks of my life, waiting for H's test and results to come in, but it all worked out. I won't tell you the one thing that pissed me off the most when I was going through it, which was people all saying 'of course you'll be fine' - but I am thinking of you.
Xtine - how sweet, a shower! Glad it sounds like you got useful stuff. My work shower was very sweet, but only the two ladies with small children got me useful stuff. The others got me stuff like packages of newborn size sleepers (already have a few outfits and assume that's all I'll need) and one gave me a diaper bag, which H was pissed about, because that's something that took us months to pick out, so he was annoyed that she'd think we would want to just use any old bag.
Brew and Emilee - you guys are saints to hang out with the ILs so much. Mine are super great, but MIL has been working my last nerve lately with the way she's acting like a martyr bc they live so far away. I'm sorry your son relocated to CA, but we do FaceTime with you EVERY weekend. We are going to PA for Christmas with a newborn, for christsake, but that doesn't mean I'm going to abandon said newborn with you for 6 hours while we go to a Pens game. You will have plenty of baby time even if we take him with us, and that way my boobs maybe won't explode, thankyouverymuch.
So tired today! Saturday we were up early and ran errands, cleaned house from top to bottom, washed the car and prepared a belated b-day dinner for my brother. We made flour chicken enchiladas (with green sauce), chile rellenos and cream cheese stuffed jalapenos wraped in bacon. My brohter's psycho fiance, well not so psycho anymore, prepared the dinner. Funny thing is that his fiancee and I now are on friendlier terms. We aren't exactly BFF's but we talk which is more than I could say for how our relationship was 6 months ago.
We then had to go to Wally World to get our tailgaiting items. We loaded up the car and didn't go to bed until 1 am. We then woke up at 4:45 am on Sunday to get ready to leave to Oakland for the game.
Yesterday we spent our day tailgaiting and drinking too much beer. We were pretty buzzed by the time we got into the stadium. Our buzz quickly faded by the time the score was 14-0. By the start of the fourth quarter, when the score was 28-0 we left. Sucks that the Raiders lost, but with all the injuiries it's understandable.
Brew- Congrats to you, boo for me. Yay for both of us that the Chargers lost
. I've always wanted to go to a game at Mile High and get booed by all the Bronco fans...perhaps next season.
QOA- Glad to hear that your family was overjoyed by your news.
All the preggers- I love hearing about your purchases and pregnancy updates.
Angie- Are you sure you're not going to miss Thanksgiving with the MIL?
Deb - cream cheese stuffed jalapenos, YUM. I want.
Mush - Happy last week of work! Sounds like you guys are totally set, that's awesome. I cannot believe it's pretty much here.
I hope this is the case for you.

mush-I have a bazillion BBB coupons, including one in my car at this very moment. Want me to send you one? I can't believe Predator is almost here!!
Deb-let's plan it. I usually ONLY go to Raiders games, so that would be perfect!
Done! And don't let DH throw it away
For sure!
