This week a minister from the church (and a teacher at the high school I went to) I grew up going to, also married my oldest bro and SIL, baptized my nephew, passed away. He was in his late 30s-early 40s with a wife and a 12 yr old daughter. He had lymphoma, beat it, then found out he has type 1 diabetes which went undiagnosed for over a year, then had a heart attack which ultimately was what beat him last weekend.
His service was last night, and they were expecting 1000 (yes thats 3 0s after the 1) people, plus they have live streaming video online which more people could watch. I mean holy cow a thousand people! I am just in awe of how many people are there supporting his family through this difficult time.
It also makes me notice how supportive we are in this board of each other. I really think a lot of you ladies and how nice you are just gives me a warm fuzzy. I just love how we treat each other like true friends and being supportive and accepting of how we are, not trying to change us. I hope we can schedule another GTG next year to meet more of you ladies down in the south, midwest and west! and Ericaah and Courtney who couldn't make it to NYC!
Love you ladies!!
Re: How amazing!!
I totally agree with you on that. I'm beyond words at how amazing this group is. I hope we can do a midwest GTG in May when Cindy comes down...we can all just "meet in the middle".....
Hopefully by then I'll have my house and we'll have a giant sleepover.
I feel the same way. We're pretty awesome, aren't we?
We are, aren't we.
I think it's fantastic how many people are coming out to support your minister, Lisa. It goes to show how much of an impact he had on those peoples' lives. And I'm sure his family is beyond appreciative. It made me feel so special and so loved 8 months ago (today) when Dad passed away, seeing all the people come to the funeral home (even a few friends whom I had a falling out with 5 months prior came and stayed for 2 hours) and the lovely flowers and kind words from all my April 10 girls, kind words from everyone on FB and at work, etc. It's great to be loved!!!
Yes, I love our little community. And I would love to make it to a get together and meet some of you!
This 100%! And how amazing that such a wonderful person touched the lives of so many. What a great testimony to a rich, well lived life!
