I just found out I won an award at work. I work with people that have a ridiculous amount of tenure (we're talking an average of 25 years) so I am really honored and stunned. Even better, it comes with a treat on my paycheck. Who is going to be treating herself to some new clothes that actually fit? This girl!

    My manager didn't give me a ton of details on the award since she was at a conference but basically they hand out awards each year to "stars" in the HR department, in other words, employees that stand out as top performers. There is one for each "area" within HR (which are essentially departments themselves...it's a big company) and I was chosen for mine.

    Apparently the head of my area, my manager, and my previous manager all unanimously agreed so I'm really honored. I've been working really hard to impress and make myself visible to the head of my area so it's nice to get some kind of recognition that I'm doing so. I hate to be so AWish but I'm really excited!

    I definitely wonder since I have a limited level of interaction on a daily basis. It's nice to know where I stand.

    ETA: I just talked to DH and he asked me what I wanted to spend the money on. I told him I wasn't sure but that we could discuss what we wanted to do with it when he got home. He told me to spend it all on myself. I probably wont, but I love that he said it. I love that man.
