Re: How was your weekend?

    • Highs? Went to 2 new parks, got new athletic shoes and had a nice family dinner.
    • Lows? Got some bad news about the short sale house we're trying to buy on Friday evening (sellers forgot to disclose they had a 2nd mortgage) but it looks like everything will be straightened out and we'll just have to close later.
    • Eat/make anything good? Made this scrumptious apple cranberry pecan dessert.
    • Watch anything good? Bad Teacher - thought it was pretty good.
    • How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? Hiked and saw beautiful foliage.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Nothing really - just going to the park in the evenings.
    • Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc? I have a feeling I will be asked to be in a wedding and I'm excited about it.
    • Highs? I finally made some progress on my living room. DH got the high chair out of the attic and we strapped DS in and gave him his first cereal. Not sure he actually swallowed much, but he seemed okay with it. We also started sleep training on Friday night, and so far its going really, really well!!
    • Lows? Got concerning news about a friend, but she's hanging in there.
    • Eat/make anything good? Um...? No I don't think so.
    • Watch anything good? Not really.
    • How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? I didn't really go outside. We should have taken DS on a walk or something.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Adults-only dinner out this weekend!!
    • Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc? I don't really have anything this week Smile

  • Highs? New Orleans for the week!  It was for work though, so not all fun & games.
Lows? Didn't really get a weekend, since I traveled home from my work event on Sat and then had a b-day party all day yesterday.
Eat/make anything good?  I was in New Orleans all week, so I had a LOT of good food!  I am excited though to get back into the kitchen this week and make healthy foods.
Watch anything good? Nothing too exciting - just Boardwalk Empire and Hung on HBO.
How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? Yes, was outside all day yesterday for my nephew's birthday.
What are you looking forward to this week? The end of it!  I've been working so hard these past two weeks for our big show.
  • Highs? Saturday was one big high. We spent part of the day at the renaissance festival - just DH, DD and I - and we had an amazing time. We had an early dinner in Annapolis after, then DH went to my Mom's to crash on her couch while DD and I went to my sister's to visit with her family and my Dad.

Lows? I slept way too much yesterday, wasn't nearly productive enough, and had a hard time getting sleep last night because of it.

Eat/make anything good? Fried Oreos at renfest Embarrassed

Watch anything good? Prime Suspect on DVR, RHONJ Reunion

How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? In the woods on Saturday.

What are you looking forward to this week? This coming weekend! Friday night is Trunk or Treat at DD's school, Saturday night DH & I are going out for our anniversary (don't know where yet - any Annapolis recommendations?), Sunday we're having Halloween Family Fun Day and DH's best friend and his wife may be joining us.

Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc? DD was the belle of the renfest on Saturday. She got her hair braided and face painted. She met and curtseyed to the King. She rode an elephant with DH. She watched the joust with me and absolutely loved rooting for her favorite knight. She jumped in piles of leaves and blew huge bubbles with the bubble wand we bought for her. By the time we left she was shouting "Huzzah!" and greeting people with a "Good Day!" - our little rennie in training. DH and I met there and it's such a special place for us - it's great to finally share that with DD and see the magic through her eyes.

    • Highs?Pumpkin carving. Watching DD actually pull herself up on things.
    • Lows?No getting outside to really enjoy the weather.
    • Eat/make anything good?I have really been craving warm, thick foods, i.e. warm pudding, thick soups. I had some homemade vanilla pudding and these really awesome, peanut butter rice crispie balls dipped in chocolate
    • Watch anything good?Once Upon a Time and How to train your dragon
    • How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? See above
    • What are you looking forward to this week?Halloween, though we still don't have costumes!?
    • Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc? DH is getting better, but when he is home and does not have any work to do (he gets calls to fix machines as part of his job, and sometimes he doesn't have anything), he just plays computer games or surfs the web. He'll put a load of laundry in, but that's about it. It drives me BSC.

  • LLHR - gorgeous pic of mia!

Highs? it's dh's birthday today so we had his family birthday dinner at my parent's last night and it was nice to have everyone together and loving on dd :)

Lows? it's my last weekend before i go back to work (wednesday) and i didn't do nearly as much as i should have around the house.
Eat/make anything good? made a cake for dh i found on pinterest
    Watch anything good? not really.
How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? a walk w/ dd and doggy on saturday :)
What are you looking forward to this week? friday...i am dreading going back to work :(
Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc? vent...i really hate my job and 98% of my coworkers (most of them told me how huge i was my entire pregnancy and when i went back commented on how i still had weight to lose...yeah, thanks.) and so that makes leaving dd this week a million times harder. we think i *might* be able to quit my job in a few months but the going back and forth and not knowing is killing me, i need to get in a mindset that yes, i need to deal w/ my coworkers for awhile or no, the end is in sight. and i am trying so hard to spend my last couple days cuddling with clara and enjoying her but i feel like the return is looming over me. :P

What kind of cake did you make? I'm loving so much that I see on Pinterest, but am trying to refrain from baking a lot.

Good luck going back to work! It's hard, but hopefully it will go smoothly!

  • Highs? - SIL spent the day w/ us on Fri, so we went to the farmer's market, she and I ran out shopping, and we went to BJ's and started our membership (which I am strangely excited about...).  It was just fun to have her around to hang out with.

Lows? - DH had an insanely busy weekend, so we barely saw him.  He had a funeral to do on Sat, which meant he only saw DS from when he got up from his nap (~4 pm) until he went to bed (~8:30 pm), and then on Sun, he had regular services, followed by a special service 45 mins away in the afternoon, so again, he only saw him briefly in the evening (~5-8:30 pm).  DS has a tough time working w/ little daddy time!

Eat/make anything good? - Had a peanut butter iced sticky bun on Sat morning and a pumpkin spice cupcake on Sat evening (both from the farmer's market on Fri). :)

Watch anything good? - Eh, nothing exceptional... we watched the Pens win Sat and the Steelers win yesterday, so those were both "good"!

How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? - We actually didn't do much of anything... Sat was cold and cloudy all day

What are you looking forward to this week? - We're taking DS to my dad's office on Thurs for "trick or treat" - everyone around here trick or treats the Thurs before Halloween, and since he's too little to trick or treat, we're dressing him up in his costume and taking him to the police station so that Grandpa can show him off. :)  We're also headed out to the Pittsburgh area on Sat b/c my BIL's college is playing my sister's college in football, and it's family weekend at my sister's college/my BIL is one of the drum majors for his college's band, so we'll get to see all of them.  My dad, stepmom, and other sister are going w/ us, so it should be a fun day trip.

Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc? - vent:  I'm really ticked off right now at our insurance company - I just tried to register for my own account on their website so I can check a claim and it's totally refusing me b/c it's trying to verify my identity and keeps claiming that what I KNOW to be the right answer isn't right... so now I'm locked out of the account and need to call them, and I'm just not in the mood to deal w/ them.  Minor, but really bugging me (I think I have pregnancy hormones to thank for being so irritated by this).  Sigh.

  • LLHR - LOVE the pic of Mia!  She looks so adorable all dressed up!
    • Highs? Going out with friends on Friday night
    • Lows?Having a headache almost all weekend. Boo!
    • Eat/make anything good?I had a really good milkshake at the Bar on Friday night.
    • Watch anything good?nope
    • How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? DD, DH and I sat outside yesterday and let her play in the front yard.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Boo at the Zoo and B-day Party on Saturday.

    • Highs? Lots of qt at home with DH and DD.
    • Lows? Our awesome microwave broke and we had to buy a new one.
    • Eat/make anything good? We made really yummy salmon on Saturday. We also watched Chopped too much. DH and I use the term "plating" now all the time and he keeps asking me to blanch stuff even though we have no idea what it really means :)
    • Watch anything good? We watched the first Paranormal Activity. And by watch, I mean fast-forward, make sure nothing crazy happens, then rewind and actually watch. We are wusses. Getting up for a 3am feeding was fun that night.
    • How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? Ran some errands and did a few things outside. Didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Cooking and baking some cookies. I've been wanting to for a while and just haven't found the time to bake.
    • Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc? Ok, I'll boast. I am back in school beginning to work on my graduate degree and I'm doing awesome in my classes.

So funny about plating and blanching, lol! I love Chopped, that's one of my fav Food Network shows.

When we watched Paranormal Activity, when it was over, we looked at each other and said, okay we MUST watch something else first before going to sleep! This was before DS was born. I can't imagine having to get up in the middle of the night after that movie!! I kind of don't even want to see the sequels because it just freaked me out (and I normally like horror movies).

  • Highs? Saturday was my mother's birthday and we had the most wonderful evening with her and my dad.  Nothing huge - Cheesecake Factory and then back to our house for cake and gifts.  But it was just such a warm, lovely celebration of the wonder that is my momma. ;) Lows? See my latest blog post.  We had a bit of a septic issue on Friday night. Eat/make anything good? My very favorite spaghetti squash recipe last night.  And birthday cake on Saturday. ;) Watch anything good?  Tangled with DS for the millionth time.  I think he's developing a Disney princess obsession.  How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather?  DS just started walking last week so he and I enjoyed some first walks out in the yard yesterday.

  • Highs? -having nothing pressing to do and spending every waking minute with DD.

Lows? -being a tad under the weather

Eat/make anything good? Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins from whole foods, OMG! They were awesome. And healthly, cause they came from Whole Foods, right? ;)

    Watch anything good- Not really

How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? - took DD over to the neighbors on Sunday afternoon while DH worked on their man cave/shed.

What are you looking forward to this week? -Seeing DD in her Halloween Costume on Wednesday

Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc? MIL got an iphone to do face time with DD, well no one told her that she needed a wi-fi signal. Which she doesn't have. Not to mention that an Iphone is way too much phone for MIL and I'm stuck answering all her questions.

    • Highs? Went to Flemings on Friday night for an awesome anniversary dinner. I happened to be up in cockeysville last week so I stopped at Sugarbakers for an anniversary cake.
    • Lows? Wasn't feeling very well on Saturday so we just hung out at home and watched tv all day.
    • Eat/make anything good? Dinner on Friday was the highlight of the weekend. I made a quinoa salad tonight for lunch this week.
    • Watch anything good? Nothing great... I may have watched part 1 of the last Harry Potter movie twice.
    • How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? Went for a walk on Sunday.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Today was a great day :). Looking forward to Friday. We are headed to a B&B in Virginia for the weekend.

    • Highs? We visited with my husband's extended family in WV. It was a nice visit, and the weather was beautiful. WV reminds me of New England in the fall, which helps a lot with my seasonal homesickness.
    • Lows? Said family can be a bit passive aggressive towards each other, which makes for some unnecessary tension.
    • Eat/make anything good?We went to a restaurant in Charleston that we really like and try to go to any time we are there.
    • Watch anything good?No
    • How did you enjoy the gorgeous weather? We went on several walks, and drove through the mountains.
    • What are you looking forward to this week?We are going to several Halloween events around town this weekend.
    • Any vents?I have jury duty tomorrow, which I don't really mind because I know it is my civic duty. If it was just for tomorrow, I would be happy to have a day to sit and read. However, daycare is really going to be an issue if I get placed on a jury. I stay at home, so we don't have regular childcare. My husband is working on a big project and taking the time off will be frowned on right now. My close friend is going to take her tomorrow, but it is a lot to ask her for more than one day. We don't have any family around, and everyone else I could trust works full time. We will make it work, but I just wanted to vent.

What are you looking forward to this week?  Looking forward to getting through my first week of the new job.  So much new info to think through.

Any comments, FFCs, vents, boasts, etc?  It's going to be an adjustment going back to work, I miss being at home.
