Words fail me - CPS called on a blog post (not mine)
Re: Words fail me - CPS called on a blog post (not mine)
The most annoying part of all of this to me is that CPS responded. If they are absolutely OBLIGATED to respond to EVERYTHING, that needs to change. They should have read the post and then responded to the complainant that they were being ridiculous and need to get a life.
The fact that they had to waste time on this (and encourage the a-hole) is such a waste of resources.
Poor mom and kids.
Yeah I think this depends on the state. A friend asked me about calling CPS on a family in her neighborhood and I went to look up the state info on child protection/abuse and it said that CPS has the right to determine if it is within their jd to investigate. Guess that's not the case in the state where that mom lives. What a waste of resources.
This disgusts me. Why on Earth would someone feel the need to call CPS on that post?
And to think that somewhere out there are families where children are neglected or beaten or sexually abused, and CPS has no idea. Or not enough time to check because they are too busy following up on a mom who wanted her son to get a lower grade on a test.

I can't believe someone felt the need to call CPS for that but I agree with Jethur, the worst thing is that they actually followed up with it.
Ridiculous waste of time & resources.
So really, why the need for CPS? I guess referring (not directly even) to your kid as an azzhat isn't the most delicate thing in the world; but abusive? Come on.
That said I'm not even sure the "name calling" (even though the Mom didn't actually call the kid that to his face) precipitated the report. Could be the "reporter" felt making the kid deal with consequences of his actions (the failing grade) is 'abuse'. I can't even comment on that, I find that so... foreign. Sorry, I side with Mom-- poor life choices (trading your calculator for cards) have consequences and, if life, you don't always get a do-over. Perfectly reasonable lesson to learn at freakin' 12!
Apparently, I'm not fit to have kids!
Seriously??? They can't be bothered to report actual abuse but instead harass this family?
Although it brings up some good points about NOT using real names and identifying information if you don't want to be found. Because you can't assume that everyone reading your stuff is sane.
WTF is wrong with people? How could that possibly be abuse?
I totally agree with the mom the kid should have received the lower grade.
Also so glad I don't use real names on my blog.
