human pacifer

is what I am today! My bumpkin is having a rough day-- she starving but every time she latches, she sucks for 2 minutes and passes out. I unlatch her and she screams. So we try again and she falls asleep... so she's starving and sleep deprived. I've left her on my boob for as long as I can handle but then I get sore and she wakes up. Oh well! I'm enjoying every minute :)

On the plus side, BFing is getting easier (still using the shield) but I think we've figured it out for the most part!

  • So glad to hear that BFing is going so well for you, congrats! Everyone is different, and each person has their own challenges, but it sounds like you and your babe are in a groove. Keep up the good work!

  • I'm still a pacifer but I do nothing to discourage it. :)

Try rubbing her little feet to keep her awake and nursing.

    Hooray for boobies!

The first few weeks we did that along with every other trick in the book-- today she just doesnt know what she wants (boobs or sleep). She hasnt had a full session since first thing this AM-- she's just having a day. MY DH is freaking out that she's starving and wants to give her a bottle but I've put the kaboosh on him so far today.

  • Aww just an off day. Was goingto suggest foot ticklig or a little rub on the cheeks, but sure you've tried it. Goodluck. We never got past the shield, but it was easy enough and worked so I never minded it.

This has been my day exactly... First full day home from hospital and we alternate between being too tired to eat and pass out right after latching on, our too ticked off to eat and screaming at me so long she can't latch on, um hello! It's in your mouth just eat!! It's ben a frustrating day for sure!
