I wanted to turn on the pellet stove, but asked DH to clean it first.
DH insists that it is just fine and doesn't need cleaned (translation: I'm too lazy to clean it right now) then proceeds to turn it on "see. it's fine"
25 minutes later my house is sort of smoky and smells terrible. Oh. And the fire went out. It most certainly DOES need to be cleaned.
Shocking.

Depending on how much you use it, you should have it cleaned out yearly. My parents have a wood stove and they clean it out before they use it in the fall. That could be a very dangerous situation if you don't.
I was sick on Friday and had a sub. The sub I requested is a retired co-worker so I knew he'd be ok since I'm a traveling teacher because he knows where both schools are.
I come in today - my classroom is a MESS! Papers all over the place. Because there was a pep rally Friday, there were shortened periods so he only had to take care of 4 classes and another sub was taking care of my 5th class. I guess he told the principal and secretaries in the office that he'd never come in for me again - not because the kids were bad or because I didn't leave good plans - because my schedule sucks! He didn't even have ALL 5 classes and he was telling them never again. I doubt I'll ever get a decent sub this year - most will probably not want my schedule. Ugh.
