Sookie Stackhouse Fans

Did that last book suck or was that just me?

Anyway, I got a series of books out of the library that felt like they were in a similar vein to Sookie Stackhouse, except they haven't gotten lame yet. The author is Karen Chance and the series is Cassandra Palmer. Like Stackhouse, they're urban fantasy books complete with love triangles and hot men. I think they're worth the read (especially if you don't plan on buying them). I just finished reading book 5 and I'm really, really sad that it's going to be at least another year (probably 2) before the next one comes out, because I'm dying to know what she's done to one of the characters.

Re: Sookie Stackhouse Fans

  • What's the first book?

  • 1. Touch the Dark

    2. Claimed by Shadow

    3. Embrace the Night

    4. Curse the Dawn

    5. Hunt the Moon

They get progressively better too. I reread the end of the 5th one three times, it was so good.

Yeah, these *should* fit the bill. They're a little more R rated than Sookie! I also picked up another series while at the library - Rachel Caine's Weather Wardens (can you tell I was in the C section?). They're fun as well (I've only read the first 3), but less with the steamy sex scenes.

  • I'm going to have to check these out.

  • Totally added those to my list.  And I agree that the last one wasn't her best.

  • The last two books in the series weren't that great. I'm hoping she can come up with something better for the next one.

  • I'll definitely be checking them out! I've been having a really hard time reading anything for pleasure lately, so hopefully this one will work!

  • I hope you guys like them. I can't emphasize enough how much they get better as they go along! So, if you're only sort of into the 1st, I promise you'll totally be into the 4th and 5th.
