If you never or rarely use your china, why is that?
We don't use ours a ton, but certainly enough to justify having it. I love dishes though. We have some nice casual china from my grandmother that we use often as well. I am always curious about why people don't use it. I love to use mine!
Re: s/o on china use
Mine is mostly because of the fact that it is packed away and kind of a PITA to get out.
Plus, it is 90% of the time only DH and I. We hardly ever have dinner with other adults and when we do, kids are involved so it just make sense to use the casual stuff.
I want my next house to have a dining room with room for a china cabinet and a larger table. :-)
I use ours often, all holidays and dinner parties. I honestly wished I had registered for more, I have 12 settings, but 14 would be really nice.
BTW - I saw Truitt and Mathis at Zoo Boo yesterday several times!
So Tasty, So Yummy
This. It's pretty much always us and the girls so I never pull it out.
Crazy Christmas Kids!
I love mine and don't use it too often, but I love displaying it. I love dishes, and have to keep myself from collecting more sets. I have 2 already, and would die for some really neat vintage sets I have been eyeing.
Everything now days is so easy button or everyday ho-hum. Bone China reminds you to make it fancy every now and then.
Think what would Betty Draper do!
I do not use mine because I could care less about what type of plate I am eating from. I also have no interest in hand washing them. It just seems like extra work for no reason.
My MIL said I would care one day and told me to register for them. I did and I still do not care about them. Maybe one day.

I was wondering the same thing. My china says it's dishwasher safe, but it has metallic accents and I don't want the dish detergent to mess those up. rrr and I handwashed all 12 place settings in about 20 minutes the other day. No big deal!
I'm also about to get my great, great aunt's 100+ year old complete set of Haviland china that no one else in the family wants or has room for, and assuming I can also get a piece of furniture to store it so its easily accessible, I will use it too. Probably for more girly events.
That's beautiful!
I use mine about 2-3 times a year but I also have and use my Christmas china too. It's the Pottery Barn reindeer set but it's edged with silver and my China has a "platinum" rim. So, I use them together during the holidays.
I'm married to a football coach. Parties consist of pizza and brew and lots of little kids running around.
We don't really host dinner parties, and when we do have a number of people over, there are kids everywhere, and we are eating burgers, hot dogs, pizza, etc. For holidays, we are either out of town with my family or at my in-laws' house.
It's also packed away, and I don't ever even think about it.
We may actually host Christmas for both of our families this year, so maybe I'll dust it off just for kicks!
We use ours enough to justify it. I have a group of friends up here who we do dinner each month at one of our homes - I use it then - when we are having a "fancy" dinner [ie friends coming over or steak].
My step-mother and dad bought it for us and she told me that they used their's every friend for shabbot - I totally forgot about that but that's something that I want to start doing - like Sunday dinners or something like that.
Ours is packed away in the attic because we don't have enough cupboard space. It's a pain to get out, so we've just never really used it (it was handed down from my Grandmother).
Our everyday is pretty enough for the parties we have, but I use our china when we host our family(s) for holidays.
Ha! Poor DH didn't know they could wear their costumes. Bummed at an opportunity lost to bust those out, but I was too drunk... er... I mean busy in Dallas to think about it.
BettyJoe- you would probably love the casual china I took from my grandmother. She also loved dishes and had like 6 sets! The only ones I wanted were the Camelot by Mikasa. Awesome 60s colors

We use ours weekly and wash it in the dishwasher, we just don't put it on heat dry. I hand dry it. We also use our silver plate utensils for every day and sterling weekly too. We come from big families, so I have 16 place settings and I guess that makes me not worry about breaking anything.
Now I just need the crystal.
