I've been shooting on a hand me down 20D. When I got it the shutter was done. The shutter went again on Sunday. So...I'm going to upgrade.
I'm looking at the 60D and the 7D. Obviously there is a fair price difference. I'm wondering the following:
On the 7D, Ken Rockwell talks about the focal points getting in the way when looking through the viewfinder. He is the only person I have seen mention this. Is it really an issue?
How is the 7D when shot in dark places. How noisy is it at a high ISO? My 20D is pretty noisy.
Lastly, I've read that the 7D is bulky and the grip/handle isn't great. Thoughts?
I've almost got myself talked into buying the 7D as an investment in my future...I mean...it isn't like I'm going to lose interest in taking photos.
Other thoughts?
Re: Canon owners come in
Focal points getting in the way??? Umm... I don't find that to be the case what so ever. I guess I just got used to looking through them. I'd rather have a boat load of points to look through than have fewer points to chose from in the first place.
I regularly shoot at 1600 with the 7D. With the 50D, my comfort level is more like 800. But I do push the 7D above 1600 when I have to and just use noise removers later to help smooth things out (no pun intended).
I don't think the 7D is any more bulky than my 50D. I'll admit that sometimes I have to double check I have them on the right sides (when I'm shooting with both).
I am no good at talking you out of spending money, so don't ask me to go there (especially since you know what I'm eyeing).
We aren't doing the shoot until Sunday though, right?
