Jalepeno Poppers?

Has anyone ever made them?  I've been craving spicy things lately (I'm sure there's an old wives tale for that) and jalepeno poppers specifically.  I went through a small box of them this weekend and can't seem to shake the idea of them.

The recipes I'm seeing are all pretty straight forward, but I don't know if I feel like going through the effort of breading things!  Lazy, party of me.

So, if you've made them, any hints, tips or tricks?

Re: Jalepeno Poppers?

  • I make a non-breaded variety.  I take the jalapenos, cut in half and cut off the stem end.  Remove the seeds and ribbing.  Fill each half with cream cheese.  Wrap 1/2 slice of bacon around the whole thing.  Bake about 30 minutes @ 375 until the bacon is done.    Oh, yeah.

I'm starting to think this might be the way to go.  We had them like this the other weekend (I blame that starting my craving) and oh man they were good.  However, some of them still had LOTS of seeds.  I nearly burned my face off eating one.

And then went back for more.

    That sounds SO good.

I do the same thing, except I put a small strip of chicken on top of the cream cheese, and then wrap with bacon, then secure with toothpicks. I season the chicken with Annie's Eats recipe for taco seasoning. Also, it's amazing on the grill! (not that we have many days left for that)

  • I do the same recipe as LesPaul but rather than wrapping in bacon, just put a part of a slice over the top like a blanket.

  • I was just coming to share the same idea as LesPaul.  It's ridiculously delicious.
  • Someone else had a recipe for a dip and it was AWESOME! I think it was ECHC

Ah, yes, I remember seeing that, perhaps on Pinterest?  Maybe that will be tonight's jalapeno fix.

Yes! That's me... and I made it all freaking summer long (didn't know what else do to with all peppers from my plant).   It's in my Good Eats pinterest board, very easy and delish.... just make sure you butter the panko and bake it uncovered so it browns up Smile
