Did anyone need to bring a witness for their divorce? My lawyer told me to bring someone that will testify that X and I are not compatible.
Did anyone else need a witness? Did the judge ask them a lot of questions?
Just curious. I am going to take my mom.... though I am pretty sure I could take anyone in the county and they would know why we should no longer be married!

Re: Divorce witness?
My xh took a witness. We never went to court, but he had to give a deposition with our amicable divorce lawyer (which was some kid right out of college-- and VERY disorganized!). Anyway, he took his new roommate (whom I have never met) and I think they only asked a few basic questions.
He could have taken anyone. Someone at my work took a co-worker.
I just sent an email to clarify. Thanks
They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
In my case it is required.
ETA- meant to quote River
I wouldn't worry too much about it. It might have to be someone not related to you but that will be easy. The questions will more or less be about identifying the witness (name, occupation, how long known you) and to attest that the facts on the record are accurate and the marraige is irreconciliable (duh, DB creepster XH is in jail). It will likely take less than 5 minutes for the questions. Your lawyer will likely go over possible questions before the hearing or deposition.
ETA: 2 weeks--yay!
This was exactly my experience as well, except this was asked at the hearing itself (we didn't have a deposition). But the whole hearing, in front of a judge, took about 12 minutes, seriously. My XH wasn't there -- it was just my witness (a friend) and myself.
This. It was fairly quick for me too but they just wanted to establish what I said was the truth.
