How to store extra quilts and blankets?

We are changing our spare room into a nursery/spare room.  We have a few extra comforters/quilts/blankets and would like to put them out in the garage to get them out of the way.  What do you ladies put them in to keep them clean?  I would prefer a budget friendly method if you have them.

Thanks!

Re: How to store extra quilts and blankets?

  • when DH and i get new quilts or comforters, we try to save the plastic bags they come in for storage, but it's totally understandable if you throw those out...

try putting each large blanket in a plastic trash bag, the smaller blankets i would say you could probably double up in bags. just depends how big the bags are. then throw a dryer sheet in each bag and seal it to keep dirt out and keep the fresh scent in. GL!

  • I bought some of those under the bed storage bags with zippers, but we keep them in the attic rather than under the bed.
  • I use vacuum seal bags so they are in our linen closet.

  • If you are putting them in the garage, I would use those big plastic totes, you can get them at walmart for about 5 to 8 bucks each. We use those for anything that is sacred to use that has to be stored somewhere, like baby stuff, because the mice and squirells can't get to them as easily and water damage is less likely that cardboard boxes. They work perfect!
