Called in, they said they wanted to see it. I got concerned glances from a couple of nurses. Then the PA came in who did my wound check and she too looked concerned. Then the debate over whether or not they were the dissolving stitches began. I wasn't drugged when I went in; I clearly remembered asking and H was there the first time and agreed that I remembered correctly. When they figured out they really were supposed to be absorbed, that's when they decided that my body had rejected them.
Because I didn't already know that...?
Anyway, let's just say that it wasn't pleasant. And now I'm on antibiotics. And they conflict with my birth control so for the first time in the better part of a decade I bought condoms because I don't want to go four weeks without sex lol.
Great way to come back from break and spend a Monday afternoon...
Re: Update: ouch
Ugh! Sorry---that had to have sucked!
I think the issue about the stitches was that the doctor who sewed me up used stitches they don't normally use in situations like that. He wasn't around yesterday, so they had to actually read through my entire file to find out exactly what he did. I don't really know why he did that...maybe he thought it would scar less? The PA was great yesterday; attentive, kind, understanding that it hurt like hell...she brought in another person, either a nurse or another PA to watch for some reason, though. Maybe just another pair of eyes? Maybe it was a learning experience?
I'm not really surprised that my body rejected the stitches. It rejects most things lol.
Regardless, it was a painful 10 minutes and I'm glad it's over. The antibiotics make me fee like *** and I can't wait for them to be over, too. I'm tired of kids giving me thumbs-up in the hallways lol and in the next five days or so, there will be nothing to thumbs-up about anymore. Ha.
I don't want to laugh at your pain, but that's hilarious.

It is, for awhile
I told my band kids today (the biggest offenders of the overused thumbs-up) that after this heals finally, they aren't to thumbs-up me for at least a month. They can make other rude gestures at me, or thumbs-up behind my back, or call me a crazy person, but no thumbs-ups!
