Remember how I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights? Well.... I saw it last night! In KENTUCKY!!!!
We were driving home around 8:15 at night and out of the driver's side window, which was facing north, I kept seeing this reddish glow. It was super weird, almost like it was a glare on the window, but H nor I were wearing anything red to cause it. Then I rolled the window down, and it was still there in the sky! Very noticeable, but so faint that it was like our eyes playing tricks on us. And THEN, after a mile or two, we came across a section of the red glow that had a sort of.... I don't know.... beam of light down the middle of it. It wasn't really bright, but it was like a sliver of light. We could see it for about 10-15 miles, and then we were out of range of it.
Now, being in Kentucky and never having seen the NLs or even considered it possible to see them this far south, it didn't even cross my mind that that's what it could be. I was wigged out just a little bit because THE SKY IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE RED AT NIGHT! But Facebook told my H that it was truly the Northern Lights. How exciting!
Re: Dream Come True! (sorta)
In this case, FB is right! There was a huge solar storm yesterday which caused the northern lights to be visible across most of the northern hemisphere.
We didn't get to see them here in Atlanta, but some people in northern GA saw them! So excited (and a tad jealous) that you were able to see them!
