Big PG scare! (long)

I'll start off by saying the LO is okay with a healthy strong heartbeat.  But it did give us some serious heartache this past week...

Friday I started cramping pretty bad and bleeding quite a bit of red blood (enough to actually feel it coming out).  At that point, I knew we had lost the baby.  With my previous m/c, my cramps weren't as bad as they were that day, and the bleeding was definitely not as bad.  My doctor's office was closed and I knew that there was nothing they could do so I stayed home over the weekend and waited for my body to pass the tissue like I did last time. I spent the weekend crying and feeling sorry for myself on the couch and I was sure our baby was gone. Luckily the bleeding had stopped but I knew the damage was done.

Yesterday my doctor had me come in to confirm the loss and figure out the next step.  During the u/s the LO surprised us with a strong little hb and was measuring perfectly at 6w4d!  DH and I were in complete shock.  We had already prepared ourselves for the loss and we were trying to figure out what days we could schedule the D&C and what our next step would be.

Seeing and hearing the little hb was such an incredible and amazing shock.  With our previous loss we saw the hb but apparently it wasn't as strong as this time.  Our doctor was also so much more encouraging and hopeful this time around.  We aren't out of woods yet, but it was good to hear the our doctor tell us that everything was normal and to see and hear a strong little hb.  Let's just hope and pray that this LO continues to thrive and stops scaring us!

  • Thanks ladies!  The doctor wasn't exactly sure the reason for so much bleeding but told me to take it easy.  He also put me on progesterone suppositories.  Overall, he said things looked good and normal.  I'm really hoping that I don't have any "normal" bleeding like that again!  LO needs to just chill for the next 30+ weeks!

  • Glad you're both ok!  Something very similar happened a couple weeks ago to my friend - lots of sudden bleeding, but everything is ok.  Continued T&P for the LO.
