My family is buying a serger for my mother for Christmas. I'm actually going to surprise her and give it to her when we find out the gender in a couple weeks. She LOVES to sew. She made all of my and my siblings' clothes as kids. She's made me my maternity clothes, she's made wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses...you get it the woman can sew. She's never had a serger and has always wanted one. Since we became pregnant this is all she has talked about, making clothes. So can someone rec their serger? It doesn't need to be crazy fancy, just a good one that will last. Thanks!
Re: Anyone have a serger?
I have this one. No complaints.

I highly recommend getting whatever machine you decide on from a dealer near her. They usually offer instruction on their machines, not to mention how great it is to have the support when you have any questions or issues. Experienced seamstress or not, a new or different machine always has a learning curve.
I have a Juki serger that is at least 15 yrs old. I love it, and it has been an incredible workhorse, doing work that was far and beyond what a non commercial machine should be expected to do, but I am not entirely sure that I would replace it with another Juki. It is really, really, really difficult to get parts for. Honestly, the only thing that I have had to replace was the thread guide assembly, (totally my fault, not a problem with the product), but ease of getting repairs/replacement parts is something I always try to consider when making a purchase.

I'm coming in a little late on this conversation, but I saw this and bought it today on HSN.com . It seems to be a good price and you can do Flex pay!
