So DH and I were sharing a shower last night and just about to get down to business when the dog walked in the bathroom and just kind of sat and stared at us. I completely lost any interest in what was happening before the dog walked in. My initial reaction was to be upset with FI for not closing the door, but even beyond that, if we lock him out of a room, he instantly wants to be there and will start whimpering and pawing at the door.
We find ourselves hoping the dog falls asleep on the couch and running upstairs and rushing to finish so as not to alert him.
Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable having sex in front of my dog, or are there others out there? And if you're out there, what do you do to deal with this situation?
Re: How to deal with the fur babies?
I do not have a dog at the moment, but when DH and I started dating he had one and it never bothered me one bit. Just do not look at the dog, and focus on your FI.
hahahaha... oh man. i feel you! it doesn't help that our dog has the most pathetic puppy dog eyes/face ever. so it's like... one glare, and its all over. luckily, we've got a no dogs upstairs rule, and theyre crate trained, so we're pretty much in the clear up there. it's a little sad that we can't romp whenever and wherever we please around our house, but what can you do? i guess it's sort of preparation for parenthood... hahaha.
try not to let it get to you to the point where you're completely turned off, though! just laugh it off, and turn your focus back to your man. good luck!
Personally, I really like having sex in front of your dog.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
We don't have sex if our dog is in our room at night because I'm sure she would jump on the bed
If we want to go at it when she's around/not sleeping somewhere else, my DH will give her a bone or put something in her Kong to keep her busy and shut her out. Works for us!
You and DH are people and supposed to be the Alpha's of the house/pack. animals are animals, not people even though some folk think of them as equals. Dogs operate on dog rules not people rules. If the dog thinks they are an Alpha or a beta they will act as such. Time to teach the dogs their place .
I hope you don't anything or anybody else walk all over you?
We have to put our dogs in their crates, which are all the way on the other side of the house! They will want to get in if we just close them out of the bedroom and they are not allowed in the bedroom while we are having what we like to call "alone time."
Once, we did it with one of the dogs in the room (before we got the second dog) and she did try to lick some... um... sensitive places. So we always put them in the crates now.
