I have always planned on working basically up until I deliver (or whenever my Dr told me to stop). Since I'm sitting at a desk all day and my commute is short, I saw no reason why I couldn't. Well, as the weeks go on and I get more uncomfortable, the thought of deciding on an actual last day became more and more tempting.
I still didn't want to waste my leave time sitting at home with no baby so I proposed starting to work from home the week before my due date (so the Monday after Thanksgiving). I will continue to work full-time, I'll just be at home. And they said ok!
I'm so happy! I'm hoping this cuts down on my risk of going into labor at work (an anxiety I've been having!) and I'm excited to have a "last day in the office" nailed down. I don't do well with spontaneity!

Re: AW: work/mat leave!
That's great!
I worked up until my induction date...but I worked in the Emergency Department of the hospital I was delivering in.

so awesome! as you know I did the same thing - I picked a "quit date" because I was just getting sick of the commute, etc. Of course I asked a month prior if I could start working from home and they said no, because my job stinks. But then the week before my last day my boss' boss said I could work from home if I wanted. But I said no...at that point, I had wrapped everything up and I just didn't want to deal with work anymore...then of course they totally restructured my team and destroyed all my maternity leave plans.
anyway, I also totally get that anxiety about not wanting to go into labor at work...it was really stressing me out. but now here I sit at home, no baby yet :-)
