Random Presidential Election Question

I know we have a few conservatives on here, so I have to ask:  Why would anyone want to vote for Rick Perry?

Out of the Republican Presidential Candidates he doesn't seem like a top contender imo.  He reminds me of a GW Bush II.

But what do I know, I'm just a disgruntled Hillary '08 supporter who will probably vote Nader again in '12 Stick out tongue

Well I'm very liberal myself, but there are still a lot of deluded people who LIKED GW. I can't understand it myself.

  • I don't understand it (i'm also not conservative).  But i do think RP is waaaaayyy worse than GWB.  I mostly think GWB wasn't cut out for presidency, but i think RP is a hateful person.

  • I haven't been impressed with any of the new candidates as of yet. It just seems like they're on a tirade to get Obama out of office and they don't care what they do or how they look doing it.

I'm a conservative, but along the lines of fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I also tend to identify as a libertarian. Rick Perry is basically my polar opposite. I can't stand the guy.

I'm seriously hoping Romney can make it through the primaries though.

  • My dad voted for Obama but has otherwise voted Republican at the Presidential level since 1984. If Perry turns out to have half a brain, he'll probably vote for him in the primary. I chalk a lot of it up to regionalism (I grew up in Georgia).

I'm a dem but I like Romney as well. He seems to have his head on straight. Also, I used to be weirded out by the fact that he's mormon but that's just because I didn't know anything about it. My boss is mormon and had educated me more. Of all the repulican candidates, I think I could stand behind him.

...Isn't Romney the one who wants to outlaw all birth control that could even potentially cause a fertilized egg to not implant because he thinks it's an abortifacient -- including the Pill, Ring, and other methods of hormonal birth control?

I mean, I don't use HBC myself, but that's just ridiculous.

I dislike lawmakers legislating what I do with my body and my reproductive choices in the first place, but legislating on things they very plainly do not have any understanding of? Hell no.
