BFing moms
Do I need any nursing pads? I have heard you are better off using washable vs disposable b/c the plastic backing on the disposables don't breathe and can cause issues.
Should I buy some pads now, or wait to see if I'm leaky/need them when my milk comes in?

I would buy some now. (If you don't need them you can always return an unopened box) I would rather have some on hand than need to run out soon after baby is born (or send DH since I know J would somehow get the wrong thing
)
I still use them. I use Lanishoh as well. I tried the washable ones for about 3 weeks and didn't like them much. I found I leaked through to my shirt easier and they were more noticable under clothing.
Side note I think this weekend is going to be my last BFing and I'm teary thinking about it. I never thought I would go past a year and she will be 16 months on Sunday.
If you can find some lansinoh ones now for cheap/reduced I'd get some, I actually liked them but I ended up getting some wool nursing pads (because wool is really absorbant) and they were reuseable.
The lansinoh ones absorbed a ton and were a huge savior at the beginning when I was really leaky.
I have like two or three free sample packs of the Nuk disposable kind that I got with some motherhood orders. I will try those first and see...Think I should bring them to the hospital? I probably won't start leaking til I'm home and my milk comes in for reals, right?
Paige, you are a rock star for still nursing :-) I think it's fine to keep it up as long as it works for you and your family, and I hate how people give women the side eye for nursing for "too long" or something.
If they are small packs I would bring one just to be on the safe side. They don't take up much room!

aw Paige I totally understand, that was when Lucy stopped nursing too!
I didn't need any at the hospital, but started using them within a day or two after he was born. I tried the reusable ones and they didn't work for me. I leaked way to much and it would go through to my shirt. I also liked the Lansinoh ones and then when the leaking slowed down after I was done nursing, but still pumping I used the thinner Nuk ones.
Hugs to you, Paige. I can totally relate. M is hanging on by a thread to nursing. I thought she was done one day last week and then she asked again (we're down to just once in the morning on one side only). It'll be soon, though. I think I'm more sad over it than she is and that's how I think it should be. You've done awesome!
