I generally love this show... but this whole season seems to be 'filler' episodes.
Nothing special has been revealed other than the opening episodes. I am trying to catch things especially related to Victoria/Ted's revalation that they can't work it out as friends like that.. or whatever she said as she was getting on the bus.
Last night wasn't that funny-- I did laugh at Marshal and Lilly's bedroom scene.
and, I am NOT a Nora fan.. Barney is annoying with her.

my read shelf:
I had a few laughs, but I agree that there isn't much going on so far this season. I did think it was funny when Ted callled everyone he could think of to go to the Weird Al concert.
I don't think Robin's character has any chemistry with Kal Penn. I'm not a Nora fan either!
I also kind of thought it was ridic that they brought in Barney's brother, who we haven't seen for a loooong time for him just to mention that Nora reminded him of their mom. Kevin brought up the parent issue thing, so I just didn't see the point of his brother being there.
I'm totally not a Nora fan.
Also, MH and I were cracking up during the Ted calling everyone he knew scene.
My new bff Gayle Forman!

I liked this episode, but then again, I don't mind the "filler" episodes. As long as the show is entertaining, I'll watch.
I will say, as a fairly big Weird Al fan, that end cameo alone was enough for me.
my read shelf:
Why? Because she has a English accent?
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?

That but I think the way she looks reminds me a lot of her. Even my hubby says it.
my read shelf:
I actually like this season. I like that they are growing up and that a lot of the humor is from their 'growing pains'. To me, it makes sense for the characters and is necessary to make the series as whole make sense.
We didn't watch it last night (it's on the DVR for tonight), but I figured nothing big would be happening so I had no problem reading this thread. Ditto, it's so lackluster this season.
I read an interview with one of the creators where he said that it'd pick up during November (for sweeps, I guess). Let's hope so.
ETA: Just watched it. UGH.
I really like Kal Penn's character, but I want Robin with Barney. I also really don't like Nora.
It has felt like a bunch of filler episodes, but I'll keep watching because I just want to know who the damn mother is!!!
I laughed at the scene where Marshall and Lily's fathers were about to make out. Marshall's dad wearing Lily's pajamas was pretty funny.
Nora singing "My Favorite Things" out of nowhere was just bizarre. I get that they were trying to show the comparison between her and Loretta, but they really just shoehorned that in there, huh?
I agree! I have nothing but love for this show!
