Pumpkinville in Mitchellville

Has anyone been there?  Is it worth the drive?

Thanks!

Re: Pumpkinville in Mitchellville

  • It's nice because it's free but I wouldn't take my nieces and nephews there. It was kind of run down and looked like a big garage sale- a big yard full of used, dirty outdoor kids toys.

If you're looking for free- the Wills Family Orchard is a great option.

If you're looking for alot of activities for little ones then the one at Cetner Grove is a great option.

Ditto...Pumpkinville isn't all that nice. I wasn't impressed! I think spending the money at Howell's or Center Grove is worth it. We may have to check out the Wills one too!

  • I guess we are more of a "beer budget" family. My kids loved playing in the granary, the straw jump, hay caterpillar, and the old toys. Their pumpkin prices are extremely reasonable too.  Center Grove is much nicer but at $10/person over 2yrs it should be. It all depends on what your looking for. It's nice that the metro has something for everybody.

  • we're a beer budget family too, but I was not impressed at all. Kind of dissapointed actually. And I felt REALLY bad for the animals in their tiny fenced in area, We went on a Satruday afternoon, and the flyer/website said they didn't do camp fires until after dark, and there were two burning, I cannot handle smoke from fires anymore. It dries out my contacts like NO other, and we just wreaked of bonfire when we got home. So that made me mad. Yes the prices are nice for the pumpkins, we got 3 for less than $20.
  • Huh, I thought that you went out there the same day that we did....

Ditto to the fact that it was run down but we had a GREAT time in the Corn Maze.  We took M into the big one, not the kiddie one and she had a blast running around.  We did a Sunday afternoon several weeks back and there were only 4-5 other cars there, it was great!  The pumpkin prices, like pp mentioned were cheap.

We did also do Howell's on a Sunday and it. was. packed. too busy for us.  We also didn't like that fact that the tractor rides dumped you off in the pumpkin patch and you had to walk forever to find one that wasn't rotten, smashed, etc.  We ended up just getting a couple out of the wagons cuz I had $ left from the groupon.  I did shoot the corn gun and was a pretty awesome shot, if I do say so myself. lol. We'd pry not go back to Howell's and would go back to Mitchellville.

  • No I wouldn't waste your time your better off going to Center Grove, Iowa Orchard, or Howells.
