my first's with the hub :)

hubby was deployed last year around this time. it's pretty exciting getting to spend all of these things with him... halloween, thanksgiving, christmas... its just great :). i remember wishing so badly that he was around last year, and to have him around this year, as a married couple, is such an amazing feeling. really keeps you feeling grateful and lucky!

well... my first marine corps ball is coming up! i don't really know what to expect. i can't imagine that it'd be super far off from what i'm envisioning... but any pointers would be appreciated! i've got a gorgeous gown i wore for my cousin's wedding... turqouise blue silk, to the floor. i've also got this salmon colored bcbg dress i wore for a family friend's wedding, but its shorter. not like, hoochie cocktail dress short, but a bit above my knees. which would be more appropriate?

thanksss ladies :). happy tuesday to you all!

  • Hi and welcome!

Congrats on getting to spend all these upcoming things with the hubs!

And floor length is the rule for the MC balls, so I would go with the floor length one.

  • Some people wear shorter dresses, but it is more appropriate to wear the longer dress.  Have fun.

There's no rule. It's just a personal preference. People wear whatever they want and because of that, there probably should be a rule, but there isn't.

    You'll see when you go.

During E's time in each year I was more and more shocked by what some of the women had chosen to wear. I think my favorite by far was the high school aged girl with faded out mulit-colored hair (read: pink, teal, yellow, orange) that matched her very promy dress.

Oh and as a rule for myself I avoided any and all things that had loose glitter on them. E would freak about having to have his uniform cleaned from glitter and its SO hard to get out of them.

OP congrats on all your first with your H!
