TV?

Directtv customers, have you seen the channels that are going away in a couple of days? Its the Fox networks (and possibly the local affiliate) and National Geographic channel, which is one of M's fav channels. Losing the fox sports channels irritates me and the local channel. I think I've also seen them do this before, and we didn't lose the channel? Or it wasn't one we watched? We have a pretty good deal now, and I hate calling and having to change/cancel/set up new equipment, etc but looks like what I will be doing in the morning. Insight?

Re: TV?

  • Yes! So no sunny or sons of anarchy. Apparently Fox wants Directv to pass on a 40% price increase to their customers (ie us) and Directv refuses. Apparently this happened with Dish network last year.

  • NOOOOOO I hadn't seen this. Pretty much all of the Lions games are broadcast by Fox here and we watch a couple of Fox shows too Sad

This blows. I don't watch FX much but I don't know what else we'd be losing.

  • I have been seeing commercials, but since I DVR everything and don't really pay attention to commercials, I didn't really know this. That said, the only channel on there that I would miss is FX and I won?t need that any more after a couple more weeks when How I Met Your Mother is caught up to real time. I think DH watches Nat Geo, but it wouldn't be a big enough loss for us to pay more. We rarely even watch our local FOX affiliate.

I kind of understand why DirectTV is doing this. They make people sign 2 year contracts, so they can't raise the prices for everyone that are in those contracts. They'd have to raise their initial contract price for new customers to offset that, which would make it less attractive than it is now.
