Here I stand on the cusp of employment!
I'm almost a substitute teacher. All I need to do is actually sub somewhere and then the school board will process my paperwork, and I will no longer be an unemployed hobo. Yay me!

Re: Here I stand on the cusp of employment!
It's great because you do get weekends off and can choose what days you work. But I find the rest of it to be well paid babysitting. If they leave you actual teaching it's easy because you'll probably be reading it from a script in the teachers edition. But the kids will try to walk all over you. And most of the time the teachers never leave the classes I get enough work. One time we ran out of assignments before lunch. That sucked.
My advice is that if the teacher didn't leave a seating chart make a quick one when you are taking role. And if you are all sly about it and don't let them know that you did it they will think you are either a freaking genius or are in good with their teacher because you know all their names. That way you can call them out by name instead of "girl in the red shirt, yes you, put your makeup away this isn't beauty school."
And advice that was given to me was to never tie shoes with wet laces. They probably got peed on.
