Thanksgiving Menus

Ok, so we're hosting Thanksgiving again this year.  Right now it looks like there will be 7 or 8 people (depending on if my sister comes).

I'm making adjustments base on last year, for example MIL was told rolls and corn pudding, she showed up with store bought rolls that were moldy the next day and regular corn.  DH was so upset.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Apps:
-Brie in puff pastry with crackers

Meal:
-Small turkey and turkey breast
-Stuffing
-Rolls (maybe homemade since I'm off all week)
-Mashed potatoes
-Green Bean Casserole
-Butternut squash casserole
-Corn Pudding (maybe)
-Salad
-Gravy
-Cranberry sauce

*Asking DH about sweet potato casserole, but it's not a staple for my family.

Dessert:
-Pumpkin pie
-Pumpkin cheesecake with choc crust
-Mini apple pies

Re: Thanksgiving Menus

  • I'm not sure what's going on for Thanksgiving yet. Nick's dad is having Thanksgiving at his house on November 12th so they can have all the kids and grandkids and then we can be with the other families on the actual day. But that still leaves us to figure out Nick's mom and my parents.

It certainly isn't going to be at our house but if it's at my parents I'm sure I'll be responsible for Apple Cobbler that I've recently gotten good at making and Macaroni and Cheese casserole.

Nick's mom's house is large (she's turning it into a B&B) so she'll likely want to host.

  • We usually go to Pat's parents house. I'm not sure what we will do this year. His mom says she is tired after making everything so maybe I'll offer. I do want to go to my family's house in Rochester too though. If we go to his mom's I'll bring green bean casserole since she doesn't make it and I love it.

  • We alternate families every year and this year is L's family.  All we have to do is show up and eat, but I might make a pie or something to take.

  • We're going to my parents' this year for almost the entire week! Here's what I know we're doing so far:

Me & Drew: orange/rosemary turkey and stuffing, mashed potatotes without milk, stuffing casserole

Mom & Dad: cranberries, sweet potatoes, rolls, corn, other veggie yet to be named

We'll all be in their kitchen, so it'll be a big family time with tons of food. I seriously can't wait.

  • I'm 95% sure we're going to Atlanta for Thanksgiving this year.  That means that I'm not responsible for cooking anything!  We usually have all of the typical Thanksgiving fare.  I'm pretty darn stoked to be pregnant and I hope to eat a ton of food!!

  • We go to IL's every year so I don't have to prepare any part of the meal.  DH and I do desserts.  He makes the Chocolate Pie that is a staple in their Thanksgiving.  I make a Four Berry Pie and last year I also made a Maple Apple Cranberry Pie.  This year will be one of the big years I think with all of the cousins there.  So we'll definitely need lots of pie! oh and wine!
  • T-I'm not very good at pies, so you can make one and send it down my way!
