any grief counselor recs?
Re: any grief counselor recs?
I don't have any specific recommendations, but some suggestions.
I am assuming someone is either gravely ill or has passed.
If that person died of a specific disease, they may be recommendations from the disease's association (American Diabetes Association, Cancer Society, etc.)
When my friend's DH died unexpectedly, the case worker at the hospital was able to provide recommendations.
If you are religious, your church may have recommendations
Does your work have an employee asssistance program? If so, they may provide counseling or recommendations.
Your health insurance may have recommendations as well (not that they pay for it, but they usually have resources to provide.
Whatever the situation, I am sorry you are going through it and I wish you the best!
Thanks, I appreciate your input. The only other time I needed it was when my aunt passed away from a brain tumor, and there was a support group here for caregivers/family that I went to which helped immensely, but I didn't know where to turn this time.
A close friend of mine from grade school was killed in a motor vehicle accident. He was a cop, and the funeral was last week up in my hometown in NJ. He was one of my first boyfriends, someone who helped shape my life. But since I didn't see him regularly (mostly FB contact in the last few years), I'm having a hard time with it - sometimes I just don't believe it's real.
I forgot about my EAP - that's a great place for me to start.
Again, thanks for the input and concern.
