I have a few coworkers who know I am pregnant and there is one random student (mother is MIL's coworker, so no shock she knows). But, for the most part, I haven't been parading it around. Just waiting for second trimester and everything before telling my students.
Well, one of my "in the know" coworkers just called me and said that two of my students were hypothesizing if I was pregnant the other day in her class. They were talking about my body shape changing and my moods and a plethora of other "signs" they were coming up with. It was hilarious, apparently. They are both in the one class I have for the longest in the year and me being PG is going to have a big effect on the class, so that class will be the first one I tell. My coworker asked them why don't they just ask and they both laughed at her saying it would be so embarrassing if I wasn't. Little do they know...
I think I'm going to ask them in class on Friday if they have something they want to ask me because I've been hearing from a little birdy that they are talking about me. The class is mostly girls, so it should elicit a few laughs and nervous giggles since drama is always high with this particular class every year.
Re: My students crack me up! (Follow Up Posted)
That's torture! hahaha.. love it though
Yup, my ears are STILL ringing over 2 hours later. LOL!
I went through my typical "this is what is going on" stuff with them. We had some classroom drama, so I had to tackle that and form a game plan with them. Went over how quarter grades were posted, etc., etc.
Then I sat down (I had closed the doors already) and just simply said "Ok. Apparently we need to have some time to speak our minds because SOMEONE in here is spreading rumors about me behind my back. So fess up."
Dead silence. With jaws hung low and "OMG!" looks on all of them. (Especially after talking about drama earlier in the class.)
I call out the two girls and say it's one of them.
Everyone is gasping and neither one of them will fess up.
Finally one of the other girls says "OH! I KNOW! CAN I SAY IT?!?!?!"
I, obviously, said yes.
"Are you pregnant????"
Me: "Yes."
HUGE amounts of screaming and squealing (keep in mind it is 14, mostly senior, girls and then 2 boys). They asked a ton of questions and we talked about my game plan for when the kid comes since it will really effect them. Got everything all settled down and then we got to work. One of them even said it was an awesome surprise for a Friday and I told her I did it on a Friday so they could come back on Monday and get right to work. LOL!
