Face paint?

What kind of paint is used for painting kids' faces??  DH thinks tempera, but that stuff dries kinda itchy and cracky. Not sure about the stuff sold for Halloween...isn't it pretty oily/waxy?

I will be painting DD's face for her school storybook parade on Friday. It's an all-over design so want to avoid something that smears or cracks too easily. I think the stuff face painters typically use would be just right...but what is it??

Re: Face paint?

  • I recently went to Michael's/Hobby Lobby and picked up a Snazaroo brand facepaint kit and it was great. I also picked up an elmers brand one, and it was terrible. I would stick with Snazaroo.

  • There is a brand that makes a paint specifically for face painting. It works well, it's not itchy-cracky like tempra would be. The brand is Palmer, and they sell it at Hobby Lobby & in larger quantities at Texas Art Supply.image
