remember this job is my first time with actual coworkers and more than one superior and just PEOPLE around in general. So excuse the random silly questions. Yes, these are the things that keep me up at night.
If your boss invited you (and the entire building via email) to an "informal social gathering" at a mexican restaurant after work, would you go?
Does the fact that the boss is the Executive VP change your mind?
Does the fact that I was told by the EVP that it's pretty much just a margarita party change your mind? Yes, I am expected to have a margarita with my bosses. Shiit. D is working, the ambulance will have to come pick me up and drive me home. lol jk, but kind of not. At least I won't be making grilled cheese, right? :P
Oh, and his wife also works here and I know her really well and she's going, and the other Execs are going with their spouses - so it wouldn't be just me and a male superior out for drinks - that would be a big no-no. ha.
Re: work question
*shrug* I've had drinks with my co-workers before.
And I've been told if I ever run into one of my bosses at a sporting event, drinks will be exchanged.
Go for it!

This. Networking is good, but you don't have to drink if you don't want to. Getting a soda is fine!

Ha, yeah I won't let them pressure me into drinking, I know they wouldn't. I turned down wine at a client event and so they all know I'm a light-weight and would respect my decision. But I will NEED a margarita by Friday so... hahaha
Thanks girls. I'm glad I have nestie besties to ask these random things!
Agreed with above... if you want to drink, drink but keep it lighter (I wouldn't get sloshed in front of an EVP). If you dont want to drink, don't. I don't drink... at all... yet I still go out with my coworkers for HH... they know I dont drink and it's totally not a big deal. I just order a Diet Pepsi and have a great time.
It can be a lot of fun to hang out with coworkers and let the hair down a bit... and also makes you feel more connected to the network of coworkers in general and to see your bosses as real people and vice versa.
