Childbirth class

For those of you that have taken, or are planning to take, a childbirth class- when is the best time? I asked my OB if he thinks it's best to wait until closer to EDD to take it, or if we can just do it now and he said that some people like to take it early, then take it again as a refresher closer to EDD.  No thanks.

** Chelsea- did you take the class at SHRH?

Re: Childbirth class

  • Wait until you're close to the end.  Mine was pretty worthless.  The infant care class was informative though.
  • if you are just taking one then wait... if you plan on doing a series like bradley its like a 12 wk long course they recommend you starting around 24 weeks
  • After recommendations from friends, we decided not to take the class. I have been told that 99% of them are out-dated and not very informative. Your nurses will help you with everything that you need to do. I just watched "Bringing Home Baby" & "A Baby Story" everyday leading up to my delivery. :)

  • Yes, it is just one course.  It can be taken ober 2 days, 3 hours each, or one full day.  I know I will probably have already read or seen everything that they will tell us, but I think it will be fun :)  Thanks for the advice!
