Rec place to buy carpet

We are going to replace the carpet in our bedroom. Does anybody have recommendations on places to buy carpet? And that also does installation? TIA!

Re: Rec place to buy carpet

I have had two rooms carpeted and had them out to redo the transition when we DIY-ed our tile bathroom.  Great to work with, I usually set a budget and they are happy to find something within your price range.  Will come measure your space for free (I think) and do installation.

  • Home Depot.  We shopped around a lot.  They offered free installation and removal.  Plus, the quote for the carpet alone was $1500 cheaper than anyone else could do,
  • I don't agree with the HD rec.  We have carpet from there and it's cheap and it stains easily.  On top of it, there was an installation defect that they did nothing about and it was less than a year old.  We purchased the Stainmaster carpet from them btw.  We just gutted and remodeled our basement last year and went with some Shaw carpet from Magic Carpet in Brooklyn Park.  Great to work with and the carpet is a dream!  We have 2 big black dogs and 2 kids and we've had accidents and spills and NO stains.  We've had the carpet for about 18 months now.  We had gotten water in the basement this past spring (like everyone else) and they were fantastic to work with to figure out what we needed to do to salvage the carpet (had to replace the pad) and all that after our drain tile system was installed.  They went above and beyond.  The guy told me that we would be back to buy more of the carpet and he's right.  It wasn't cheap, but it's great carpet and at some point when we're ready to spend the money on our main level carpet, that's what we'll be getting.
