Who is dressing up for Halloween?
Re: Who is dressing up for Halloween?
Last year was our first Halloween in our new house. Our neighbor told us we get tons of trick or treaters. So I dressed up silly & waited for the 3 trick or treaters that we got. I was so mad. I bought tons of candy. Had a cauldron set up. Jack-o-lanterns were glowing, scary music..... What a let down.
I wonder why your neighbor told you that. Weird.
Halloween is kind of "our thing" with our group of friends. We we'll dress up for our party on Saturday. We usually do something that relates to each other, without being matchy matchy. This year we're doing masquerade. We saw these cool masks at Target and will just wear clothes we already have that work with the theme. Easy and cheap.
Last year I was a witch so I wore my hat when giving out candy. I'll either where it this year again or the mask.
Aww. I wonder if it was an off year or if your neighbor is just crazy. At least you had lots of candy to console yourself with.
I should clarify that I am dressing up for a party, not for trick-or-treaters. I will answer the door in regular clothes, but I might put the dog in a costume if she'll tolerate it. I did put out Halloween lights for the first time this year. We outlined our front door in orange lights. I never thought I would be that house.
Sometimes I'll throw on one of my old costumes to hand out candy, but that's about it. Not sure if I'll be doing that this year since I get home from work relatively late and it might not be worth it.
I'm not big into Halloween though. The most fun part of it for me were the years I was living in San Francisco; my birthday and a few others in the group fall right around Halloween and we would all get dressed up and go clubbing to celebrate
I'm not planning on dressing up this year. If something comes up I have some cat ears that I can throw on with black clothes, but we don't have any plans.
We don't get hardly any kids at our house for trick-or-treat either. When we first bought our house I was so excited to hand out candy and then there were maybe 5 kids. The past few years have been the same. I'm not wasting my time this year...
