Do you use the cornbread recipe that was posted earlier?  If so what do you substitute for the buttermilk?  If not what recipe do you use?

Re: Kendra316

  • i dont know if this helps but i found this on line.

    Buttermilk Equivalents and Measures

    ? 1 cup buttermilk = 1 cup yogurt
? 1 cup buttermilk = 1 cup milk PLUS 1 Tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice (let stand for 10 minutes before using in recipe)
? 1 cup buttermilk = 1 cup milk PLUS 1-3/4 teaspoons cream of tartar
? 1 cup buttermilk = 1 cup water PLUS 4 Tablespoons powdered buttermilk
(reconstitute before using or add dry to dry ingredients and wet to wet ingredients before mixing

  • Yes I used that recipe and just used skim milk instead of the buttermilk. It came out great. Even better IMO. The only slight difference is I had to bake it a few minutes less.
  • Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
