Doctor recs please - Northern Metro

Hi ladies! I've been struggling lately to find a really good general doctor for myself. I've been playing doctor roulette and haven't really found anyone who seems willing to sit there for more than five minutes and listen to me. I'd like to find someone close to C00n Rapids or Blaine if possible.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations you have!

Re: Doctor recs please - Northern Metro

  • Would you go to Anoka?  I see Celerina Gonzalez at Riverway Clinic in Anoka.  I love her.  She is more than willing to hear you out on anything.  And she'll ask you if you agree to whatever treatment she suggests.  If not or you want to try something else, she's more than willing to do that.  I don't like a doctor who won't consider the least invasive solutions and she definately does that for me.

  • I looked on referral site (dying to use it for something?it?s paid L).  Allina Medical Clinic in *** Rapids has 38 reviews and is rated at an A and nobody gave it less than a B.  The doctors that earned these scores included:

John Pastorius (2 people commented) ? ?I've used him for a good many years. We have a good rapport and he seems to take me seriously. I will continue to see him.?  ?He is very personable and takes time to listen to me. He is easy to deal with. He has a good bedside manner and communicates well with me.?

I laughed?.this is a dad of a childhood friend never knew he worked for Allina.  He was a very nice man.

Bruce Young (3 people commented) ? ?He is a family physician in the truest sense of the word because he sees everyone in my family. We switched locations to follow him. We really like the fact that he treats each of us as individuals but he understands the context. He recommends a course of action but he understands that I am an adult and I need to take personal responsibility.?  Also ?Dr. Young is absolutely wonderful. Takes the time to address your concerns, explain options, etc. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor with experience who doesn't overtreat, overtest, etc.?

John Gryte (3 people commented) ? ?He is thorough. He is experienced. He knows his stuff.? ? He was written up in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine as one of the top doctors in the area. He is very nice and a great doctor.? ?He spends enough time with us and doesn?t seem rushed. He answers our questions too. That is probably what I like about him the most.?

Haha John Pastorius was my doctor from childhood on in to my twenties. I no longer see him I just stick with my OB, but I have nothing but good things to say about him!

  • I also had some bad luck with doctors and nurses, and as of a couple years ago I switched to Allina Shoreview Clinic and love it!  I also went to the *** Rapids clinic recently to see a Podiatrist and that doctor and nurse were super nice as well!  At Shoreview I typically see Dr. Schwartz (but I've seen others that I like as well), she is so nice, and really wants to sit and discuss and I never, ever have felt rushed.  She was disappointed last time that I didn't have any concerns and said it was too easy.  Good luck - I didn't realize until I switched how big of a difference having a doctor that you like really makes.

  • Thanks for the suggestions. I'm right near the Allina clinic and definitely willing to go to Anoka to find someone good. I had been going to Fariview in Blaine, but they've made a few mistakes that I'm not comfortable with.

The doc I saw for my physical last year was listed on their website as family medicine and OB, but when I made an appointment with her this week about an ear infection she wouldn't see me because she 'doesn't do that'. I had to see a triage nurse instead. I didn't mind too much, I was in pain and just wanted antibiotics, but it was the way it was handled. They also mixed up a vaccine once and almost gave me the wrong shot, so now I'm a little paranoid about the place now.

I've had a long string of doctors now who don't seem to listen and are too quick to pull out the prescription pad. I'd just like to see someone who seems concerned about my well being and not the clock for once.

    Thanks again!

  • I really like Dr Mark  Scheible
