baby gates?

Which ones do you have? Love? Hate?

We're looking at the ones that fully open so there's no bar to step over. Any suggestions?

What about the pressure mounted ones? Do they work?

Re: baby gates?

  • We got the First Years Hands free gate.  There is a small bar to step over but its so nice to just step with my foot and push it open with my knee when I am carrying a baby.

Do you girls open it on their own? Some of the reviews I just looked at said that.

  • We have this one

I guess it's an Evenflo. There is a small bar to step over, but it's never caused an issue. I find it easy to open with one hand. It's pressure mounted, and we've never had a problem with it. We've actually never taken it down since putting it up.

If you make it tight enough there is no way anyone can get out.  At first DH and I didn't have the tension high enough so you could just push on the gate, but now we fixed it (when DH actually decided to follow the directions that came with the gate) and the only way to get out is to step really hard on the foot pedal (Abby puts her full weight on it and it doesn't budge).  Its very sturdy!!
