**heather** (soon2be)

Hey... thanks for trying to help! I didn't know if you'd check back below so I thought I'd start a new post so we can chat. :)

Looking at the floor plan, you seem to have a lot of wasted space.  Is the utility closet laid out to allow for storage?  IE....bins of toys that you can put away when not being used?

What about placing dressers in the closets so you can have cribs/bassinets in the bedroom?  Are the bedrooms really both about the same size, or does it just appear that way on the drawing?  Because if it is as big as it looks, you should be able to fit 3 cribs and a changing table.  However, dresser(s) would have to go into the closet and a rocker/glider would fit.

Will your family allow you to store some things at one of their homes (if more spacious)?  You know the things you really WANT to keep but just don't have space for (wedding dress, childhood memorabilia, Nolan's outgrown clothing).  If you PM or FB me your zipcode, I'll happily look for apartments for you.  Its one of my guilty pleasures.

The utility closet holds the W&D, furnace, and trash can... so there's no extra space. The bedrooms are the same size but because of the layout of the closets they don't allow for dressers to be stored inside.

Our parents already store all of our extra crap, lol. The stuff we have here is literally only stuff we use! (Nolan's toys, clothes, our clothes, furniture, etc.) All of our decorations, etc. are at their houses.

I don't want the kids in the same room because N is finally in a good sleeping pattern/schedule and there's no way in hell I'm going to mess that up with crying babies that likely won't be on the same schedule. So, they'll be sleeping in our room in R&P's until they outgrow them (N was about 4 months). After that, who knows. We could fit one crib in our room but since they'll be rolling (I assume) by that point, they can't share a crib. Of course, that's awhile away. More than anything, we just need a bigger living space... we'll have bouncers, swings, etc. not to mention all of the toys/space that Nolan needs to be able to play.

I can PM you our zip code but we live in an interesting area. It's like if you go too far one way it's ghetto but if you go the other way it's nice... all in the same zip code. So, unfortunately I doubt you'll have much luck without knowing the area. I appreciate the thought though!

I did find one apartment- 3 BR- that's only $50 more than what we're currently paying and because it's getting to be winter a lot of neighborhoods start offering discounts. So, we may be able to get it for about the same price. It's about 50 sqft bigger as well, which isn't much... but the 3rd BR would help I think. I'm going to try to talk DH into checking it out on Friday. We'll see!

Re: **heather** (soon2be)

  • Sorry....I do agree babies come with a TON of stuff.  A lot of B's stuff is currently just sitting in my parent's room bc we have no place to store it.  Good luck with that place on Friday.  A 3-bedroom for $50 more a month is great.  Do you have a picture of the layout?  50 additional SF could be huge if the space is better utilized.  I'm sure it will all work out.  But if you do end up moving after the twins are born, beg, plead, bribe, WHATEVER.......just make sure you get tons of help.  Packing/moving with 1 newborn is insane, can't imagine it with 2 plus a toddler.
