Foam or Coil?

Which mattress did you end up getting for the crib? What brand? I read to get foam as the coil is really heavy and a pain when changing sheets. But heard foam is not always as firm as you should go. Recs please! Thanks :)

Re: Foam or Coil?

  • Also, how do I know what size that would fit best in my crib? Does it say in the crib manual? Just measure? I know what to look for as far as how well it fits etc, but didnt know where to start. We should be getting our crib delivered tomorrow or Friday so I don't have the manual yet. Just wondering!

  • I think that there is only one size for cribs, but I could be wrong. We went with a Sealy firm coil mattress because it was rated really high in Baby Bargains or Baby Good Buy's ( can't remember which).
  • We used a coil mattress that was from my SIL.  It felt firm, so I wasn't worried about it.  E slept on it for less than 2 years before we moved her to her full size bed.  I think that mattresses are pretty standard for size, as are cribs these days.  I didn't measure my mattress or crib and it fit just fine.
