Re: Public hot tub places

  • I used to have no strong opinions of them one way or another.  Then our beloved JGE once referred to them  as a "soak and poke".  And I've been grossed out ever since.

    Yep.

  • I remember that too.

  • Yeah...for some reason they kind of gross me out. I know that they supposedly clean them in between, but they still gross me out.
  • How about hotel hot tubs?  Still gross, or okay, because no privacy for the poke?

  • Soak and poke is hilarious and ewww. That said, I walk barefoot on hotel carpet and it probably has seen the same action but is not cleaned nearly as often.

Yes, I would say only minimally gross.  (Although, realistically, those probably have a certain degree of poking going on as well.)

However, a year or so ago I read about a lawsuit in which a woman got a very serious bacterial infection from a hotel hot tub that had not been properly cleaned.  That has since skewed my opinion of hotel hots a bit more toward the gross factor.

  • The 25% other vote has me curious.

  • The Oasis is a great place. They are very clean and have you have complete privacy. Every room has a different theme. It's very private, clean, etc. Never had a complaint about it before.

I voted "other" with my reasoning above.  Although, I suppose I could have voted "gross" based on my logic.

  • With the Groupon being for Oasis. I would buy it. I've tried a few places and they are far and above the others.
  • Dying at "soak and poke".  DYING.

Everytime I drive by that place I started hearing porn music in my head lol.

  • This is hilrious.  Soak and poke?  Gross.

  • Molly, I don't think I'll ever be able to use a public hotel hot tub (like in the pool area) again our last trip to Club 36 in Vegas.  There were, ahem, suspicious looking hairs collecting in the foamy bubbles.  Lots of them.  Eww.  Ick!
