Re: Mrs.Jason

  • Ugh, no.  They said they will only approve it for a compounding pharmacy in Corpus Christi for whatever reason.  What sucks is I am in Orlando right now and I only have one day left of the gel :  They did however give me 15 days of free samples that I can get when I get back to Texas, which will be next Tuesday.

I tried to get them to pre-auth the prescription so I can see if my insurance will approve it.  However they are telling me that will take 3 days to get approved and I need the medication before that.

Soooooo, I am going to bite the bullet and get one weeks worth of the prescription filled.  Publix will be able to have the medication for me later today and they are ONLY going to charge me $240.  But at least it's cheaper than Walgreens who wanted to charge me $357.

I am so beyond annoyed right now.  I spent the majority of the day on the phone yesterday trying to get this figured out and my OB's office was being a total PITA.  I finally gave up and have decided to pay the weeks worth of medication to buy me some time before I get back to Texas.

  • I imagine it was a frustrating day.  I've been talking to my brother about the drugs I've been taking; he has been developing drugs for Pfizer for 10+ years.  He said that a lot of these little pharmacies develop compounds that have extremely limited testing - which concerns a lot of doctors.  Your OB is probably playing it safe - and doesn't want you trying a compound they're not familar with, from a pharmacy they don't know.  Fingers crossed that you can get insurance to cover a portion.
