Introducing again.

Hi all,

I seem to be able to find the time to come on here a bit more and figured I should probably stop lurking so much!

DH, me and DS are all Australian living in Indonesia, there are a ton of new faces here so figured I should say hi before posting again.

Re: Introducing again.

  • I figured you had to be someone who was around more before because I wasn't recognizing you...so thanks for the intro!

I myself am guilty of lurking a lot lately what with my mom being here and the baby coming soon.  I'm an American living in Madrid with my Spanish DH if you hadn't caught that before. We're awaiting our first multicultural bebe...starting to get impatient here!

Anyway, hopefully we will both stop lurking around and be more active. ;)  See you around!

ETA:  Your picture is amazing!  I love elephants!

Welcome back! How is Jakarta treating you guys?

Thanks!  Not too bad, we have been here six months now so the honeymoon phase is definitely over, we are getting used to it though, there are some things that just make me shake my head and wonder but generally speaking we are settled with a nice group of friends and Otto is having fun with all the extra people to play with.

How is KL?  We have to head there soon, DH family is from Malaysia and considering we have the first born son of that generation it is important we go and see them all soon.

Thanks, Otto is absolutely in love with elephants at the moment so we get to see a lot of them.

Good luck with your first baby, I remember the impatience, I was never very good at waiting, luckily Otto wasn't either and came a few days early.

It's goo I hear you're settled in. This might be a slightly strange question, but are you finding it easier to meet people with a kid than it was when it was just the two of you the last time around? I have found myself pondering lately how different it would be with a child thrown into the mix. KL is nice an it's very easy to live here. We are just now getting to the point where we're settled in enough for a housewarming party though. Is your H's family from KL or another part of the country?

It is a hard question to answer, in South Africa there really weren't any expat groups but there was a large component of my DH's work which were so we all hung out together.  Here there are a huge amount of expat groups and no one from my DH's work!  I think having a child just makes you get out more and make friends, the expat community here is really well established and there is always something to do, with or without kids.  That being said the amount of young families here means that a lot of activities are organised by people with children or with children in mind.

I am not sure whether my DH's family is from KL originally but they pretty much all live there now.

I know, it equally thrills and saddens me, it all just goes way to fast but the more they grow the more new adventures we get to have I suppose.
