How was Italy???? Details please!
Re: **Bailey**
Italy was perfect! Thanks for asking...
We flew into Rome.. I was nervous about the flight since I have only gotten more neurotic with age, so for the first time I took a sleep aid for the transatlantic flight and it made all the difference... I slept like a baby and was ready to get going when we landed. We only had two days in Rome, so we checked into our hotel, freshened up, ate lunch and went straight to our tour of the Vatican... except the time change got us confused and we were an hour late. We just re-scheduled it for the next morning and took the metro to the Colosseum instead. We did the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon all in one afternoon. The next morning we spent three hours touring Vatican City, which was pretty breathtaking, and then it was time to catch our train to Tuscany (I was with my husband and brother and we were meeting my parents and some other family and friends in Tuscany). I thought one of the coolest things about Rome was all of the beautiful drinking fountains with delicious, fresh water! Plus, all the history there was so fascinating.
My parents picked us up in this 9-passenger van (literally, the biggest vehicle I saw in Italy) and took us to our villa. We had 15 people in this 7-bed, 7-bath villa that was set among grapevines and olive groves, that was right outside of Montepulciano (apparently part of Twilight was filmed here). It was absolutely perfect- a rustic feel, but will all the amenities we needed, like wi-fi! Most days in Tuscany we took day trips to places like Siena, San Quirico and Montalcino. Then we would come back for the afternoon for relaxing, happy hour and either cook, order pizza or go to town for dinner. I had either gelato, tiramisu or both every.single.day. Our villa owner also owns a winery, so we went there to help harvest grapes on day. I fell in love with the local pasta called pici and am excited to learn that I can just order it off of Amazon and make it at home (I already cooked and ate the little bit I brought home). The wine flowed like water, and because it is free of sulfites, or something like that, I never had a single hangover! Even after the night that we streamed the Ravens game online and drank ourselves silly. On the last day we took a surprise day trip to Florence, to replace DH's lost passport.. on the bright side I got to see a little bit of a city I wasn't planning to see!
Coming back was so hard, the flights are longer, we had delays and obviously we were exhausted. The first night home I woke up in the middle of the night and had no idea where I was, why there was a cat in bed with me and why there was carpet on the floor (the floors in the villa were all stone). I can't believe it was a month ago! It was also in Italy that we found out our offer on a house was accepted, so it was a pretty exciting and awesome trip. I would have stayed another week at least and I would go back in a heartbeat. And I was happy to have all the quality time with my parents and brother... we had not all been on a vacation together for over 10 years.
I will try to post some pics:

Sounds like a wonderful trip! I'm dying to go back to Italy. I also loved how I could fill up my water bottle everywhere.
We were originally supposed to close yesterday and then last Friday the title company found out the sellers had a 2nd mortgage they didn't disclose. Now we're waiting to see if the 2nd mortgage company will accept the 1st mortgage company's buyout so we have no clue if/when we will get the house. So frustrating. It's been almost 7 months since we put a contract in on it.
