moms or anyone: newborn headbands
I'm really just looking for the elastic part of the headband. I've made some flowers and I'd really like to find elastic for a newborn but I can't seem to find it. My last hope is babys r us tonight or tomorrow night or i'll just have to sew adult ones and just use those. or go buy elastic... lol. anyway, anyone know??? (i'm down south remember..)

elastics for this type of deal are really easy to make...i don't know where to find just the band, w/ no decoration...
to make it though, buy some plain elastic from the fabric store..a liiiittle bit shorter than you need (it stretches!). then cut fabric about 150% the length of it, and about 3x's as wide..sew a the elastic to one end of it...stretch it out and sew the other end together...make a couple benchmarks in the middle of stitching, to hold it together. sew the side of the fabric piece together
you've esentiallyl made a "straw" with fabric....and elastic attached to the outside.
then the "easy" way is to tie a piece of wire, or a stick to one end, and "pull it through" to make it right-side-out.....then sew the ends together.
voila, a band.
i realize that i was typing this out, this is also how you make a DIY garter for your wedding..so maybe look up instructions for that for a better explanation than i just gave haha

i know i can make my own elastics, i was just being lazy. lol.
