My London dream and our savings dream is over :-(
I just got a call today from the bosses in NYC. They want me back there "in the next few weeks if possible." DH and I were starting to make huge gains in savings now that the wedding was over and now it seems like I'll be back in the US by the end of November. He'd have to stay until the end of the year for tax reasons.
So we won't be going to London and even having our first Christmas together is uncertain. But they want to train me in what I've been wanting to do and I won't be doing it from an outpost, so it's a really good opportunity for me. DH will also have the most work opportunities in NY. We were just hoping to have some time to stay abroad, keep saving, and keep looking into other options.
Oh well :,(

Such a bummer that you have to be away from your H again so soon after the wedding and that you might not be able to spend holidays together.
On the bright side this sounds like a move in the right direction with your job and hopefully that will lead to a raise which could lead to savings! Sorry you're having to deal with this right now though. Hopefully you'll at least be able to spend Christmas together!
You'll get to do ADR right? That's exciting. Now that I know you're back in the city and your employer is a D-bag, I'll call to recruit you for other jobs...or just bug you at work to meet up for a drink one day
BTW, are you changing your name professionally?

MCC - We will definitely have to meet up! As for the employer... we are one of the top 5 firms worldwide for investor-state arbitration, so I want to stick around for a while and get real training first. But it's always good to keep an eye out...
Actually, he'd probably be more likely to leave as what he wants to do we don't do that much of.
Rpic - I don't think anything would happen immediately; it would just look bad and could be an issue in the next review. The only reason I'm in Turkmenistan is because they were pretty cool about getting me a visa and paying for us to live together even before we were married. I never had a contract here and I don't want to play the "just married" card after all of this.
We are both committed to living overseas again and he is an EU citizen (and I will be in 3 years), so there will be more opportunities in the future.
This whole time we assumed his job would be the deciding factor... oh well.
