Strange first name? Weigh in...
A friend on Fb posted her status and while I was reading it, someone commented on it. That someone's first name is "Kale."
Am I the only whose first thoughts go to the green leafy variety?

Nice Superman reference, Maeghan!
Yeah, sounds like a poor name choice to me. Maybe we can hope they were being funny and like to switch up their screen name with goofy things.
Although on my mommy discussion board, there is a forum for baby names. Someone asked what the group thought of "Roux." There were plenty of people that thought "Oh, gee, that's kind of fun and masculine" and the rest of the [sane] people commented that it was stupid because it was a paste of flour, butter, and liquid and it was equivalent of naming your kid Dough or Cracker.
So you never know what people are capable of.
Sincerely,
Energy Mauve "Roux" Starfishface
I've done some research-- and apparently, it's kind of a made-up name. Cael, in Gaelic, has been linked to "narrow, slender" which is actually pretty much the same meaning behind the name/word "Kyle" (thin, narrow).
Of course, there are some sites that claim Cale is short for "Caleb" which means "dog" or "brave" depending on whom you believe. (Hebrew for dog seems to be the winner, based on reliability of the sources).
Originally, I thought the poster on FB was a girl, but it turns out it is a guy. So at least that's consistent with those of you who have known a "Cale" or two...
I still can't help thinking of the leafy green food-- especially since the spelling is exactly like the food and not Gaelic.
I'm totally going to start calling Kyle "Kale". He's going to love it.
A girl I know from BBH recently had a daughter and named her Quillan. I have absolutely no idea the origin of the name, but it strikes me as weird. Something in me thinks that it's some reference to a D&D character or some other fantasy/roll playing kind of thing, cause she's just that sort of girl.
Edit: Oh snap- just checked online and Quillan's a boy! My bad...
